Normally you will find me standing behind some big black crates or a stack of the boxes on delivery day. Those are our "trade baskets" that are filled with extra veggies (and sometimes fruits) that you can exchange for items from your own basket to help you to customize your share to your tastes. The trade basket is mostly filled with extras of the same items in your own box, but sometimes I have some extra items to choose from as well. For example, this week you might need more peppers than what is in your share for a recipe you want to try and you still have some eggplants from next week so you can trade me your share of eggplants for another share of peppers. You can make as many trades in this way as you wish to help you get the share exactly how you want it. I never know what I will have to offer for trades and the popular items will go quickly so you have to come early if you think you will want to make several trades. People often ask what happens to the items in the trade baskets that do not go to our customers. Our farmers pick it up when they come to get their boxes and take it to one of the Farmers Markets they sell their produce at the following day. That is why we ask that you allow the volunteers to handle the veggies being traded since we need to ensure the ones we return are still in fantastic shape for selling to others. Here's some pics from past trade baskets:
